Containers For Hydroponic Cultivation Are Now Requested by Schools

In the span of a few months, the idea of using a decommissioned shipping container to adapt it for hydroponic cultivation has reached a not insignificant degree of appreciation. Most recently, Greatit's Demetra container is attracting the interest of many schools as an innovative teaching tool.

"In addition to companies," says manager Daniele Bertocchi, "for some time now, we have had several requests from technical institutes from all over Italy. At a national scale, there is a call for applications that allows the purchase of innovative technologies, and our Demetra fully fits into these characteristics."

No work permit is needed to install the container, and from the time the order is placed with Greatit, it is necessary to estimate a few weeks for delivery.

Demetra is a vertical farm in 20 or 40-foot salvage containers, so it can be moved without any problems. Its promoter, 30-year-old agronomist Daniele Bertocchi, has an established lineup of first-rate partners.

"This container equipped for vertical farming can be managed remotely. Only planting and harvesting have to be done on-site. Alternatively, thanks to 4.0 technologies that also take advantage of tax benefits, every step can be regulated from the smartphone," he concluded.
