A Local Scottsbluff Family Is farming In A New Way

Jarod Kerr, co-founder of Thirsty Roots Farms works with his wife and co-founder Maggie, and parents James and Nancy Kerr on the farm. Their hydroponics farm uses vertically what would have been the horizontal equivalent of three acres of farmland and feeds the water and nutrients through pipes.

Thirsty Roots Farms is currently selling to Powerhouse on Broadway, though they may expand in the future as they get more familiar with their systems.

Another benefit of being able to grow year-round is that Thirsty Roots Farms will be able to provide local produce even when the weather outside has stopped other farms from growing.
