Ellepot And TTA Enter Strategic Alliance
Danish supplier of the world-leading paper pot system, Ellepot and the world-leading Dutch young plant handling and selection experts, TTA form key partnership targeting forestry sector worldwide.
Global suppliers to the horticulture industry, Ellepot and TTA, have formed a partnership to better serve professional forest nurseries. The partnership is a formalization of many projects which already have been executed in good cooperation. The announcement comes at a time when both companies are realizing the benefits of strategic partnering to achieve enhanced customer service and company growth.
Ellepot developed the unique Ellepot Propagation System – an integrated eco-friendly growing method for healthier roots and high-quality plants that eliminates the need for plastic. Known for their game-changing innovations, within advanced machines for sorting, grading and transplanting, TTA became a market leader and continuously invests in R&D to deliver the best in production equipment for the handling and selection of young plants.
GREATER CONTROL THROUGH THE ENTIRE CHAIN
The two industry pioneers will offer a fully automated system to forestry customers worldwide, where every process is designed to optimize efficiency and production.
“Teaming up with TTA means that we can offer customers an even broader automated package, giving them the opportunity to influence the handling of young tree plants completely,” says Ellepot CEO, Lars Steen Pedersen.
“It is an honour joining forces with such an exceptional global industry player as TTA. Ellepot and TTA can learn from each other and use this synergy to help forestry customers all over the world benefit from improved production processes and quality throughout the entire value chain. We both have a strong focus on creating customer value through increased control in production, and this is the ultimate goal to bring to customers in the future.”

Mexico: New DTS Plug-In Tray For Stone Wool Plugs
INA Plastics designed a new tray for stone wool plugs based on the Double Tray Invention, the DTS Plug-In tray on the 60X40 cm footprint holding 240 stone wool plugs of 27 mm.
The cell design of the DTS Plug-In offers ideal air pruning and allows the fingers of robotic transplanters to pick up the plants, thus the tray works well in advanced automatic production lines and offers all the benefits of the Double Tray System: economy, hygiene, productivity, plant quality and environmental protection.
Although the cost of the DTS Plug-In tray allows it to be considered as a one-use tray, with all the benefits of this procedure, it can be reusable by reusing the bottom tray for at least three or four years, replace only the top tray in order to take all the advantages of the one-use tray at half the cost of any other alternative e.g. light EPS tray.
The new DTS Plug-In tray will be available before the end of this year and its presentation coincides with the decision of the company to start producing the DTS locally, close to the big markets. This became necessary in order to be able to cover the demand, to minimize transportation costs and to ensure the growers for the availability of the trays even in unforeseen circumstances and periods of extreme demand.
Following this commitment, the company will establish production facilities in the Guanajuato area, to service customers in Mexico, via its affiliate company, INA Insumos Agricolas SA de CV, for the sales, technical support and distribution of its products. The first stage of production operations will be the set-up with an automatic line, especially developed by Conic System, for the assembly of the DTS Plug-In tray with stone wool plugs. Conic System is in close cooperation with INA Plastics over the years and has already in the market a special automation, the Double De-stacker, for the assembly of DTS.
The aim is to establish, as of March 2019, production of the DTS Plug-In tray and other configurations DTS trays, for the Mexican and the US market.

US (NY): Cornell Student To Develop Weed-Free Growth Media
Seven New York state businesses have been awarded funding to participate in the Cornell Center for Materials Research JumpStart Program, through which they will collaborate with Cornell faculty members to develop and improve their products.
The program is supported by Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology, and Innovation (NYSTAR), with the ultimate goals of revenue growth and job creation. JumpStart projects receive up to $5,000 in matching funds for project costs that include faculty and research staff time, facilities, services, supplies, and materials.
One of this semester’s projects has Íko Systems (Ithaca) and Re-Nuble (Brooklyn), in collaboration with Neil Mattson, professor and greenhouse extension specialist in the Horticulture Section of the School of Integrative Plant Science, develop weed-free growth media that have been recycled and infused with Re-Nuble organic nutrients formulated specifically for use in the Íko grow system, a climate-controlled herb garden. Iko Systems was started by a team of engineers, designers, and botanists at Cornell.
